Etienne VORMERINGER (エチアン・ボルメランジェ)
Born in Algeria in 1959 and grew up in Paris. He was fascinated by the
tropically from South America and South East Asia as a child. In stead of fishing
with his friends (he was not a good fisherman), he prefered to observe fish with
a mark in the sea, river and in the aquariums.
In 1982 he finished Ecole Superier de Art Graphic in Paris (Penninghen). Since then he worked in fashion Magazine (Marie France & Depeche Mode) and in advertising agency (Black Pencil Leo Burnett, FCA, Alice etc.)
During his expartriation in South East Asia, he realized his dream to see the Asian tropical fish in real and discoverd the Fighting Fish betting in jungle.
Since 2004 he lives in Tokyo and continues his work of graphic art and creation of arts.

1959年アルジェリア生まれ、パリで育つ。
幼少の頃からトロピカルフィッシュに魅了され、特に東南アジアそして南アメリカの魚に興味を持つ。
他の子供たぢが釣りに夢中になっているときに（彼はあまり釣り上手ではなかった）彼は水中マスクで 海や川の中そして水族館で魚を観察するのが好きだった。
1982年パリの芸術大学エコールスーペリアル ド アートグラフィック（ペニンゲン）を卒業。
その後ファッション雑誌（マリークレールやデペシェモード）そして広告代理店（ブラックペンシルレオバーネット、 ＦＣＡ、エカイ、アリスetc.）でクリエーション/アートディレクターの仕事に従事。
東南アジアへ赴任の際、アジアのトロピカルフィッシュを初めて直に目にして感激、 タイのジャングルのファイティングフィッシュのギャンブルを見る。
2004年以来東京在住。グラフィックアートとクリエーション活動を続けている。

題材（Motif)
I want to share with many people the joy of looking at the beautiful world of fish in natural sea, river, aquarium and even in bleeding water through my works. With an influence of my father who worked in Algeria and Amazon as a hydraulic engineer, I grew up feeling the greatness and the power of water. In my youth, I dived in Mediterranean Sea and was fascinated by the beautiful world of fish. My mother was born in Algeria and grew up like myself surrounded by the living creature of the sea. So, learned a lot of things under such a culture. I used to create tropical fish aquarium myself, observed the fish in rich nature and was fascinated by their beauty. After I grew up and started working for design, I continued from time to time to observe and enjoy the beauty of fish.
私は作品を通じて自然の海や川やアクエリアムはもちろんのこと、養殖の水中牧場に到るまでの あらゆる水の世界の美しい魚たちを眺める喜びを沢山の人と分かち合いたいと思っています。 アルジェリアやアマゾンで活動を行った水力工学エンジニアの父の影響もあって、 私は水の持つ力とその偉大さを身近に感じて育ちました。 私は幼い頃から地中海に潜り、その美しい魚たちの世界に魅了されてきました。 私の母はアルジェリアで生まれ、やはり私と同じように紺碧の海の水棲動物たちに囲まれて育ったので、 その彼女に内在したカルチャーの下で私は多くを学びました。 幼い頃は自分でも熱帯魚の水槽を作っては自然豊かな魚を観察し、その美しさに魅了されたものです。 成人後、デザインの仕事をするようになっても折に触れては魚の美しさを観察してきました。

技法（Technique)
First, I draw the outline with China ink, then color inside with water color ink. There are 2 ways to draw. One, observe fish in sea, river and aquarium, then recreate the image in my head, then draw freely with my hands these free images. Two, based on the photo I took, construct the image accordingly and add the decoration.
初めにブラックの中国墨で輪郭を描いた後、ウォーターカラーインクで色を着けてゆきます。 描き方は二通りで、一つは魚を海や川そして水槽などで観察した後、頭の中でその光景を再構成し、 そのイマジネーションの中で自由に手を動かしてゆく方法です。もう一つは撮影してきた写真に基づき、 イメージや装飾を加え組み立ててゆく方法です。
